Drinkbox Studios announced today that Guacamelee, the upcoming “Mexican-themed co-op-multiplayer dimension-swapping metroid-vania beat-em-up platformer,” would be released as a Playstation Network exclusive.

The game was first shown at Digifest’s First Person Show last October and it left a lasting impression with its quirky art direction and vast range of sub-genres. From what we’ve seen in the trailer, the game features a series vibrant explorable dungeons, colourful enemies, a leveling system and physics puzzles that utilize the protagonist’s “dimesion-switching” powers.
