Having made a living from spoofing… well absolutely everything, Matt Stone and Trey Parker (the creators of South Park) gave South Park: The Stick of Truth the E3 announcement it deserves. Following up on some rather lackluster performances, the duo began by mocking Microsoft‘s clear push to get every device you own attached to the Xbox and then went into some minor details of the upcoming RPG following the rather animated trailer.

Playing as yourself, or at least a South Park-ified version of yourself, or any other character you wish to create, you will embark upon an epic quest to become cool. In this case cool means being ingratiated into the famous foursome through role playing a fantasy based game filled with death, destruction and of course the rather crass cast themselves. The game looked just like the cartoon series, and Matt and Trey revealed that they have been working closely with Obsidian for the last two years in order to achieve this. The aesthetic may not have been a problem for the team but the geography was as the series creators, who have never had to map out the town before, admitted that they finally had to address just where all of the notable landmarks where in relation to one another.

The game will be released on March 5, 2013. Stick with us for more news on both South Park: The Stick of Truth, and E3 itself.

Read on for information regarding the game’s pre-order bonuses, Kinect voice integration and planned DLC, the latter of which will be released onto Xbox LIVE first. Plus, make sure to take a look at the new screenshots which were just released.
