Who is the new ‘Bachelor’ Zach Shallcross?

And will season 27 end in an engagement?

After a season of ups and downs on The Bachelorette saw Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia’s simultaneous searches for love come to unexpected ends, the question on everyone’s minds quickly became an obvious one: who will be the new Bachelor?

Fan favorite Nate Mitchell seemingly had the title in the bag, but after allegations that he cheated on his former girlfriend surfaced, fans became less confident in that outcome. Reality Steve, on the other hand, was confident that he knew who the next Bachelor would be, and it turned out that he was right.

As Bachelor Nation fans who watched the live Bachelorette season finale last year know ⏤ not to mention the first episode of season 27 ⏤ Zach Shallcross is our new Bachelor. Zach was one of the final three men vying for Rachel’s heart on The Bachelorette, but he ultimately eliminated himself after the Fantasy Suite episode due to circumstances that occurred behind closed doors. What appeared to be an unfortunate end to Zach’s journey soon became a beginning in disguise when host Jesse Palmer revealed that Zach would, in fact, became the leading man in the franchise’s next chapter.

Here’s everything we know about Zach, from his towering height to his family family member.

Zach Shallcross’ age, height, job, and hometown

Zach is a 26-year-old senior cloud technology sales executive at Oracle who currently lives in Austin, Texas. He grew up in Anaheim Hills, California and played football from 2014-2019 for Cal Poly, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He stands at a staggering 6′ 4″, two inches taller than Bachelor host Jesse Palmer, but he’s not the tallest to grace the Bachelor stage. Former Bachelors Clayton Echard and Matt James are both 6′ 5″, and Sean Lowe ⏤ who made an appearance in season 27’s first episode ⏤ is 6′ 3″.

As Bachelorette fans who watched Zach’s hometown date on The Bachelorette got to see, he’s a family man through and through, a sentiment he reiterated numerous times during the premiere episode of his own season. Zach is officially no stranger to the spotlight, but there’s someone in his family who is even more accustomed to the camera than he is. He happens to have a famous uncle who has appeared in everything from Seinfeld and Family Guy to Rules of Engagement and A Series of Unfortunate Events. We’re talking, of course, about “Uncle Pat.”

Zach’s uncle is none other than Patrick Warburton, an actor and comedian who has been entertaining audiences in television and film for nearly 40 years. Warburton has leant his voice to nearly 300 episodes of Family Guy and is perhaps best known for voicing Kronk in The Emperor’s New Groove, among other animated hits. Warburton’s instantly recognizable voice ⏤ a deep, comedic monotone ⏤ has made him stand out as not only a prominent voice actor, but one of the most successful comic talents of his generation. While millennials will remember him from movies like Open Season and Home on the Range, their kids will know him better as Grandpa Shark on Baby Shark’s Big Show and the upcoming Baby Shark’s Big Movie!

How to watch The Bachelor

If you want to see how Zach’s journey on season 27 of The Bachelor unfolds, be sure to tune into ABC on Monday nights at 8pm ET/7pm CT. Episodes are typically two hours long, but as Bachelor Nation fans can attest, there have been seasons when three-hour episodes have kept the drama going well past the average viewer’s bedtime. Fortunately for early risers, new episodes of The Bachelor can be streamed on demand and on Hulu the day after they premiere on ABC.

While we don’t know which lucky lady Zach ultimately proposes to yet, if the trailer from the first episode is to be believed, he’s going to propose to someone ⏤ but not before jumping through enough drama-filled hoops to fill a circus tent. With any luck, Zach’s authenticity and laid-back nature will make the imminent drama that much more bearable, even if some of the women he dates in the process inevitably will not.
