Based on Max Brooks’ popular horror/post-apocalyptical novel World War Z: An Oral History, the movie adaptation has been a troubled production from the start.

First the financiers nearly pulled the plug, then there was controversy amongst fans due to the filmmakers changing the plot and making the movie PG-13 and finally, there was the release date change. Now, to add insult to injury, director Marc Forster has started seven weeks of re-shoots for the movie, which stars Brad Pitt.

Re-shoots are nothing new in Hollywood, many blockbusters like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and The Avengers have gone through a similar process. The difference with those blockbusters and World War Z is that their re-shoots only lasted a week or two and were for the most part, to sort out technical issues, nothing major. For Forster’s film, however, we believe that the issues are much more severe and that the movie is in need of some serious improvement.

World War Z is the second Paramount release to get an extensive re-working, the other being G.I. Joe: Retaliation whose release date has been pushed back to March 2013.
