Bissinger’s book “centers around his relationship with his twins, one of whom has serious intellectual handicaps” and “chronicles a summer road trip taken by father and son and the personal journey that helps Bissinger better understand his child.”

Some of you may already be familiar with Bissinger’s work as it was he who wrote the novel Friday Night Lights, which was the inspiration for the 2004 film that was adapted for the screen and directed by Berg.

The director has had a hit and miss kind of career. He has given us some good films like The Kingdom and Hancock, but he also recently gave us the disastrously-bad Battleship, which is destined to go down as one of the worst films of the year.

Aside from Father’s Day, Berg is also set to direct an adaptation of Lone Survivor, a Navy SEAL film that will star Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, and Ben Foster.

Let’s hope these upcoming films will go towards helping audiences forget his last film. Of course, directing adaptations of books instead of board games is always a step in the right direction, isn’t it?
