Insanely popular YouTube personality MrBeast is doing what he does best – giving away exorbitant amounts of money in increasingly unusual ways. Beast, whose real name is the decidedly unbeastlike Jimmy Donaldson, recently teamed up with Fortnite to give away $1 million in the game.
The official Fortnite Twitter account shared the news today and MrBeast said he hopes people compete because “we built some sick maps for it.” It’s called “MrBeast’s Extreme Survival Challenge” and players can try and win the money on Dec. 17.
Also, starting on December 14 players can purchase both MrBeast and MrBeast6000 outfits from the Fortnite Item Shop. The survival challenge island will go live on December 13, so people will have a chance to practice before the 17th.
During the challenge, players will “avoid hazards, collect coins, and survive extreme challenges to earn ‘Score.’ Earn as much Score as you can before time runs out in the match.”
The challenge only lasts three hours from 12 PM ET to 3 PM ET and players will be able to access it in the “Fortnite Competitive” row in Discover.
“You can play as many matches as you want during this time. After the challenge concludes, the Score of your best match (the match you got the most Score in) will determine your placement. The player with the highest Score will earn one million dollars (USD)!”
That’s not all, however. The top 100,000 will win a golden Beast Brella Umbrella. Also, how much would it suck to come in second and just win an umbrella? Brutal.
That’s not all. There are also going to be “MrBeast’s Extreme Survival Quests” that go live the same time the island does. Completion of these quests will earn players two loading screens: the MrBeast Gaming Spray screen and the MrBeast Survival Games.
An emote that sprays cash called the Beast Blastin’ Emote and some weapon and outfit accessories are also available. So let’s review. One person is going to win a million dollars, 100,000 people get an in-game umbrella and everyone else can win loading screens.
Considering that between 2 and 4 million people are playing Fortnite at any given time, and the fact that MrBeast is the most-followed account on YouTube, there will be probably double that vying for the money; therefore, chances of winning are about as likely as growing a third foot.
This is almost definitely not going to stop anyone from trying.
