Miiverse, the social networking service built into Nintendo‘s upcoming Wii U console, will allow players to interact and communicate with one another in various ways – but other outside networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, will not feature into it.

In a recent interview, Nintendo representative Laurent Fischer confirmed that while there are still plans to allow access to Miiverse via outside devices such as PCs and cell phones, there will not be any options to link the service to outside companies:

“I have three devices permanently doing that already, what is our benefit to do so also?” Fischer was quoted as saying.

He emphasized the Wii U as having sufficient social strength on its own, saying that they are aiming for easy and convenient chat systems, and that the built-in system will help players find others with similar interests.

Miiverse and the Wii U are currently scheduled for a release sometime later this year. We will keep you updated as more details are revealed.
