The record-breaking veteran always has the most wholesome responses.

For many actors, the best parts about starring in a film or series ultimately varies. For Angela Bassett, who reprised her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the most wonderful part of when filming was the chance to reconnect with her family of co-stars.

At the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards ceremony, the Hollywood veteran spoke to Deadline on the red carpet, revealing that she was happy to be back shooting with the cast and crew on set, while telling a brand new story filled with a great deal of “heart, love, and resilience.”

With the passing of Chadwick Boseman, and a horrific on-set accident involving Letitia Wright, the sequel to MCU favorite Black Panther hit more than a couple of snags on the road, but was ultimately released last year to favorable responses from critics and fans, who praised the emotional tribute to Boseman, the score, and the acting performances, particularly that of Bassett and Wright.

The actress isn’t exactly a stranger to critical acclaim, but with her captivating turn as Wakanda’s ruler and a grieving mother in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the seasoned talent is breaking records as the first actor to win big in the acting categories at major awards. Most recently, she took home the Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Film and the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. She is also a favorite to earn an Academy Award nomination for her role in the superhero blockbuster.
