‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ character posters unveil the entire Shazamily

The whole Shazamily is here!

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will finally arrive in theaters in just over two months’ time. Like most Warner Bros. superhero movies, its release date has been in a constant state of flux, though this movie has proved especially difficult to pin down. The Shazam! sequel was originally set to land in April 2022, then November 2022, then June 2023, then December 2022, and finally (to avoid being squashed by the all-conquering Avatar: The Way of Water) to March 2023.

At least for now, Warner Bros. has decided this is to be the final release date and has released a set of new posters introducing us to the ‘Shazamily’:

Zachary Levi is joined by Adam Brody as Freddy Freeman, Meagan Good as Darla Dudley, DJ Cotrona as Pedro Peña, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, and Ross Butler as Eugene Choi, the adult superhero versions of Batson’s foster family brothers and sisters. That’s a lot of new superheroes for one movie, though they’ll be squaring off against a trio of villains known as the Daughters of Atlas: Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler.

Early indications are somewhat mixed. In a bad omen, Fury of the Gods apparently received an audience rating similar to Batgirl, which was shelved indefinitely soon afterward. However, there’s a huge amount of buzz about West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler in the movie, and if nothing else it’ll match the original movie in being fairly unique superhero fare.

As always, the proof will be in the pudding, so let’s hope that Shazam! Fury of the Gods can break the DCU blues when it hit theaters on March 17.
