In an attempt to troll President Joe Biden over the recent Chinese spy balloon fiasco via Twitter, House Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene trotted out a white balloon that she said she would bring to tonight’s State of the Union address. However, someone pointed out something hilariously uncomfortable – she looks like a character from Stephen King’s “It.”
Greene walked through the halls of the capitol with it and posed for pictures with a big smile on her face. Take a look:
Here she is walking it out of her office.
The comparison, of course, harkens back to Pennywise, the evil child-eating clown from the famous King novel.
It’s not clear whether balloons are even allowed on the floor during the address, but Greene’s troll came after House Speaker McCarthy mentioned that there would be no “childish games” in an apparent reference to the time former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped up Trump’s speech.
“We’re members of Congress. We have a code of ethics of how we should portray ourselves, that’s exactly what we’ll do,” he said, apparently not aware that in a few hours Greene would walk around the capitol like a kid at a fair.
Even Greene’s fellow representative Lauren Boebert, who has also come under fire for being a right-wing extremist, has distanced herself from Greene’s ploy.
The Lincoln Project took it upon themselves to make the connection to the horror franchise a little more clear.
Despite all of the trolling and backtrolling, Greene has been put on a few different congressional committees and wields a significant amount of power in Washington. We’ll have to wait until tonight to see if the balloon will actually make an appearance on the floor, or if Greene is just posturing for the social media clout.
