Despite Steven Soderbergh‘s hiatus quickly approaching, he is currently working on adapting Magic Mike for the Broadway stage. A few days ago, Reid Carolin, who penned the screenplay, teased that the film will be coming to Broadway in the near future.

“We are working on it as a Broadway show, which would be a different story, more of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story. I’m almost more excited about that than the movie because I think it’s the perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway, to be participants in the show.”

I could not agree more with Carolin. Considering the film is expected to bring in over $30 million on opening weekend, Magic Mike: The Musical could have the potential to do very well. With Soderbergh and Channing Tatum on board as producers of the project, alongside Carolin, Gregory Jacobs, and Nick Wechsler, the show is bound for success.

Of course, one can only hope that some of stars featured in the film would be willing to hop on stage for a one night only production at some point.

While there aren’t any other details at this time, other then that Carolin will write the book, we can look forward to next Summer when Magic Mike: The Musical is expected to hit the stage.
