‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ haters move to shut down #ReleaseTheTaikaCut before it even begins

Just when you thought it was over.

The idea of a Director’s Cut isn’t strange in and of itself, but it does stretch credulity a little every time fans take it upon themselves to wish one into existence, with Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder in danger of becoming the latest example.

Sure, filmmakers like Ridley Scott and Zack Snyder do love adding more footage back into their films – often yielding a vastly superior end product – but one of the internet’s favorite things to do is decide that there’s definitely a much better edition of a polarizing or terrible movie lurking just underneath the surface waiting to be brought back to life.

We saw it happen with J.J. Abrams and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the demands for David Ayer’s original vision for Suicide Squad are ongoing, while we all know how it turned out when Snyder was begged to give the disastrous Justice League a fresh coat of paint.

However, Redditors have moved quickly to shut down the merest threat of a movement swelling in the bowels of the fandom to try and drum up support for an extended edition of Waititi’s hotly-contested Love and Thunder. Mercifully, though, there’s one major reason why there’s not a shred of possibility that it’s going to end up bearing fruit.

Not only did the filmmaker admit that he detests Director’s Cuts with a passion, but the crushingly uneven cosmic caper that split audiences down the middle last summer was his take on the film. He likes short flicks, he won’t entertain the idea of making them longer, so we can all sleep easy with the utmost certainty that there’s only ever going to be one Thor: Love and Thunder.
