The first full trailer for DC’s The Flash has been released during the Super Bowl, and surprisingly, the reactions have been extremely positive.
The film, which is set to debut on June 16, 2023, will follow The Flash (Ezra Miller) as he journeys to another reality, meeting different versions of characters throughout the DC Universe, including an alternate version of himself. The trailer not only showed off the other Barry Allen but also Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl.
One of the heads of the DCU, James Gunn, took to Twitter to celebrate the release of the trailer, emphasizing just how much he loves the upcoming film. Based on all the fans who have commented on the trailer, it seems like they will end up agreeing with Gunn when the movie does release.
One fan flat-out said they agreed with Gunn, accepting that the trailer looks “insane.” It was a near-perfect trailer, and it seemingly did not give much away, while serving fans a fresh new look at the key characters.
Another Twitter user posted “The Flash movie just topped my most anticipated movie of the year it genuinely looks GOOD.” Now, that’s a big statement to make when 2023 contains enticing upcoming installments like Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Indiana Jones, Transformers, Fast X, etc, as well as original films like Cocaine Bear, and 65.
The positive reactions did not stop there with another fan tweeting “THEY DID NOT HOLD BACK IN THE FLASH TRAILER.” Between the different versions of Flash and Batman, the debut of Supergirl, and the return of General Zod, they definitely did not hold back.
Speaking of Batman, fans have not only been praising the return of Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader but also Affleck’s return as the savior of Gotham. Of course, Affleck, who joined the DCU with Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, will mark his last appearance as Batman in The Flash.
Of course, you can’t forget the return of Keaton’s Batman. We haven’t seen him suit up since Batman Returns in 1992, and fans exploded at not only his appearance in the trailer but also at how he immediately doled out justice the way only Batman can.
To say the movie has been delayed might be an understatement, as it has been in a suspended stage of production for 10 years followed by all the bad press it attracted in the wake of Ezra Miller’s controversies. Let’s just all hope that the finished product is as good as this trailer was. We’ll find out when The Flash speeds into theaters on June 16, 2023.
