What is ‘Mila in the Multiverse,’ and is it related to Marvel?

Could this be MCU's newest superhero?

Created by Cássio Koshikumo and Janaína Tokitaka, Mila in the Multiverse is a Brazilian TV show that premiered on Disney Plus on Jan. 25. Like the majority of the content owned by the Walt Disney Company, this series is aimed at younger audiences, telling the story of a teenage girl named Mila, played by actress Laura Luz.

On IMDb, the series’ plot is described as follows: “For her 16th birthday, Mila receives a very special present. Mila can now travel back and forth between different parallel universes to look for her mother, Elis. But Mila soon discovers that her mother’s disappearance is just the beginning of the story and her journey. Since Elis found out that several universes actually exist in parallel, she has been hunted by a mysterious group called “Os Operadores.” Mila has to adjust to this new and extremely dangerous situation and receives support from her friends Juliana, Vinícius, and Pierre. Together with them, Mila travels the huge multiverse in search of her mother Elis. An unbelievable adventure full of surprises and dangers awaits the friends.”

Is Mila in the Multiverse part of the MCU?

Nowadays, all anyone can think about when they see or hear the word “multiverse” is Marvel. The connection is instantaneous and, in all honesty, understandable. The MCU is one of the biggest movie franchises in the world, and its Multiverse Saga has left no one indifferent. When you add TV shows to that mix, it stands to reason that some would conclude that Mila in the Multiverse is one of the MCU’s latest installments.

Despite being owned by Disney, much like Marvel is, Mila in the Multiverse is in no way related to the superhero franchise. In fact, the show is a Disney Plus original, unlike MCU’s movies and TV series, which are based on the Marvel comic books.

All eight episodes of Mila in the Multiverse‘s first season are available for streaming on Disney Plus.
