A highly anticipated action horror labeled ‘pure trash’ is winning fans over thanks to early screenings

Trash or not, we will be seated.

The 2023 horror hype train continues to flex its power and keep the wheels turning, with recently released projects like Knock at the Cabin and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey reminding everybody why the spooktacular genre deserves its moment in the spotlight. And while both of those films have attracted the attention of the entire community over the last several weeks, a new eye-watering action horror with a head-scratching premise is the latest sensation that has folks talking.

The film in question, of course, would be Cocaine Bear, which received an anticipated pre-screening last night. Unsurprisingly, film fanatics jumped on the golden opportunity to catch an early peek at the Elizabeth Banks vehicle, with one specific Redditor over on r/horror writing a lengthy analysis of the movie’s individual strengths and weaknesses. In their eye-opening reflection, the OP claimed that while Cocaine Bear is undoubtedly “pure trash,” they insisted that it was trash in a good way. We’ll take it.

Following the OP’s post, the comment section was immediately followed with fellow horror stans thanking the OP for their in-depth scanning of the thriller extravaganza — with a variety of folks already preparing to flock to the theaters to bear witness (get it?) to the madness.

Of course, when you craft a horror film about a feral, cocaine-ingesting American black bear, then it was surely understood that the movie was going to catch on with people in a hurry and tickets were going to be sold as fast as hotcakes. Truth be told, we might have the creature feature of the decade on our hands here — and that’s definitely an accomplishment in itself.

Cocaine Bear stomps into theaters tomorrow, Feb. 24.
