There have been many seasons of many different televised singing competitions over the years, with some shows managing to pull in some pretty big names for their judges, or in the case of The Voice, coaches. If you are unfamiliar with the popular series that is about to go into season 24, which sees contestants battle it out with their vocal cords to win $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music Group.
Over the years, The Voice has hosted many talented and big-name artists who have sat in as coaches, with most leaving after a season or two, like Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, John Legend, Miley Cyrus, Nick Jonas, Alicia Keys, Usher, and even Shakira. So, you might be getting ready to tune in to the current season and wondering who the coaches are. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
Who are the coaches on season 24 of The Voice?
Season 24 of The Voice will mark a turning point for the show. After 12 years as the most loyal coach and poster boy for the singing competition, Blake Shelton is not returning to the spinning red chairs. This will make Season 24 the first season without a single coach from the show’s original line-up, which was made up of Shelton, Adam Levine, CeeLo Green, and Christina Aguilera. Change can be hard, and the absence of the country singer will definitely be felt. But, worry not. There will be more than a few familiar faces around for this 24th edition.
John Legend, who has been a coach on seven separate occasions between Seasons 16 and 22, is back in the saddle for an eighth round. Legend’s team has only won the show once with Maelyn Jarmon in 2019, so he will be particularly eager to improve his record.
Also returning is fellow mainstay Gwen Stefani. This will be the “Hollaback Girl” singer’s seventh season after her debut in 2014, going on to win it all in 2020 with Carter Rubin. Meanwhile, Season 23 newbie Niall Horan is coming back for seconds. The One Director alum unexpectedly stole the show in the spring when his young star Gina Miles beat out Team Blake in the finale. Season 24 will be his chance to prove he’s got more in him than just beginner’s luck.
Legendary singer and actress Reba McEntire is bringing in new blood and securing the country charm now that Blake Shelton is gone. This will be Reba’s first season as coach after being an advisor for Team Blake all the way back in Season 1, and a Mega Mentor in Seasons 8 and 23. Reba fans can rejoice because the “Fancy” singer has already been confirmed to return for Season 25.
Season 24 of The Voice premieres Monday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. From then on, it will air two episodes weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays.
