An absolutely ludicrous horror remake gets its name dragged through the mud all over again

You can't please everyone.

The concept of the colossal horror genre running out of original ideas has been tossed through the ringer for over several years now — especially with the parade of remakes and reboots completely surrounding the catalog and utilizing old ideas from earlier filmmakers and authors. This is precisely the case for 2019’s Pet Sematary, which attempted to recreate the magic of the ever-popular 1989 film that’s based on the 1983 novel by horror icon Stephen King. Unfortunately for the 2019 flick, the hype that was once absolutely rampant quickly fell flat, with horror diehards wondering exactly what went wrong — and why a movie this disastrous needed to be made in the first place. These thoughts were further explored in a thought-provoking post over on the r/horror Reddit platform, as one specific user dissected an abundance of the film’s obvious flaws and opened up the discussion to listen to what other users had to say.

As to be expected, a range of other horror fanatics soon swarmed the comment section in a hurry, with the majority in agreement with the OP and specifically pointing out a significant amount of flaws in regards to the lackluster remake.

Judging by these comments, it’s fair to say that the Pet Sematary remake won’t be turning any heads in the future of establishing a cult-classic following. But with King’s latest adaptation The Boogeyman expected to release in June, perhaps horror fans will stop grunting whenever they hear that a new King adaptation is in the works.
