Everyone is remembering January 6th as Marjorie Taylor Greene tries to talk about drug cartel pipe bombs

Marjorie Taylor Greene is catching flack after alleging an explosive was found in the United States by Border Patrol Agents earlier this year.

United States Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene sure knows how to deflect essential issues ā€” mainly from the infamous January 6th riot, and the events that occurred before that fateful day.

For context, on the evening of January 5, 2021, news outlets reported that two pipe bombs were found at the Republican and Democratic National Convention offices. According to PolitiFact, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism fact-checking project of the Poynter Institute, the pipe bomb would ultimately be “discovered outside” and “disarmed by authorities” the following day, when then-Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris was in the DNC building. Since then, no suspect has been charged for this alleged crime.

At the same time this event occurred, thousands of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Building after it was revealed that the former United States president had lost the election to Joe Biden. This incident took place amid Trump’s claim that his loss was due to voter fraud, an allegation later proven false by government officials. Despite this being described by some individuals, including Greene and Trump, as a ā€œpeaceful protest,ā€ the New York Times reports that at least seven people, including three Capitol Police officers, lost their lives as a result.

Fast forward to March 15, 2023. Greene caught flack from social media users after the 48-year-old took to Twitter to share alleged claims about an explosive being found in the United States by Border Patrol Agents earlier this year. In the post, Greene also stated that the Agents had information about the alleged suspect that ā€œbrought it in,ā€ and that it was allegedly linked to a ā€œthe Cartel.ā€

While calling for the United States military to do something about this alleged situation, Greene wrote, “Explosive found by Border Patrol Agents Jan 17th. Agents have surveillance of who brought it in and when and confirmed it was the Cartel. This changes everything. Not only are the Cartels murdering Americans everyday through drugs and crime, but now they are planting bombs on our land in our country. Our US military needs to take action against the Mexican Cartels. End this Cartel led war against America!”

As Greene’s upload began to go viral, many individuals bashed the entrepreneur, and also brought up her alleged involvement in the past pipe bomb incident that occurred in the RNC and DNC offices.

One Twitter user asked Greene if she planned to put that bomb outside the RNC office.

At the same time, another individual expressed how coincidental it is that bombs are being located when Greene is “around.”

A third social media user claimed that Greene’s bomb accusation could be seen as a confession to her alleged participation.

While another Twitter user asked whether the (alleged) suspect grabbed the explosive before Greene could (allegedly) plant it at the DNC office.

Last year, PolitiFact reported that an Instagram post shared by user @warriordw2 accused Greene of being involved in the pipe bomb incident at the RNC and DNC offices. Although it has not been proven as factual, the social media user reportedly came up with the conclusion by questioning Greene’s motives, as she was running for reelection at the time, and compared Greeneā€™s and the alleged suspectā€™s gestures when they held a bag. The post showcased a side-by-side image of the pair carrying and swinging two different bags.

No additional details regarding Greene’s alleged involvement or her post on the explosive being found by Border Patrol have been released to the general public.
