So we all know that Sharlto Copley and Neil Blomkamp, the team that brought us District 9, are prepping a new film, Elysium. Now we have another name hovering around the project. Matt Damon is said to be in talks to star in the film. Although the film is said to be in the sci-fi genre, probably similar in tone to District 9, not much else is known regarding the plot.
Either way, Elysium is good news, with or without Damon. District 9 was a great film and I’m very excited to see what Blomkamp and Copley do next. If Damon joins, that will just be an even bigger bonus. Seeing as Damon still has to shoot Cameron Crowe’s We Bought A Zoo and Steven Soderbergh’s Liberace, it would be assumed, that if Damon signs on, he’d shoot Elysium in between Zoo and Liberace.
