The Super Mario Bros. Movie gave new life to the Mushroom Kingdom, as we see Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, and the rest of the gang in a whole new light. Rather than share a generic story of Mario saving Peach for the 100th time, there was something more substantial found in this animated adaptation of a video game character that was introduced in the ’80s.
Aside from the film showing the amazing adventure that Mario and Luigi got to experience while trying to escape the mundanity of their everyday life, the film did what most movies are doing these days and included a handful of end-credits scenes for fans to keep an eye on. Do they tell more of the Mushroom Kingdom’s story, or could they be seen as inconsequential?

The Super Mario Bros. Movie post-credits scenes, explained
The Super Mario Bros. Movie has two end credits scenes that viewers could catch if they’re willing to stay through the credits. One of these scenes is a fun and further extension of the current film’s story. Meanwhile the other hints about the future of the Mushroom Kingdom.
The first mid-credits scene could be seen as an official music video for Bowser’s love song to Princess Peach, titled “Peaches.” Bowser plays the piano and sings a few new lines before hitting the chorus. It’s later revealed that he’s a prisoner in Peach’s castle. The King of the Koopas was still unable to return to his original size after Mario force-fed him the mini-mushroom during the battle in Brooklyn, and is now contained in Peach’s castle in his cage.
Then there is the second end-credits scene, located right at the very end of the movie. Viewers return to the underground pipes of Brooklyn where Earth’s connection to the Mushroom Kingdom was located, only this time, it’s been reduced to rubble due to the Mario sending Bowser’s flying domain through the warp pipe before the final battle. In the center of the rubble is a Yoshi egg that somehow made its way to Earth and is about to hatch. Viewers don’t see the creature emerge since the screen immediately cuts to black before it can hatch.
While the final end credits scene is short, it could have hinted at the events for the next Super Mario Bros. movie, if Nintendo decides to make one. If you want to witness the events that unfolded prior to these two scenes, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is now showing in theaters.
