A highly-anticipated horror threequel adds a bloody fountain of famous names to its cast

The third film is set to be even bigger than both its predecessors combined.

After the wild success of Ti West and Mia Goth’s slasher films, X and Pearl, more details surrounding the third film in the trilogy are emerging, and the cast is looking stacked.

The sequel, titled MaXXXine, will cap off West and Goth’s trilogy, resulting in a hat trick as the first two films received wide critical praise, as well as earning $25 million at the box office despite their low budget. It looks like the third film might have cost a significant amount more than its predecessors, though, considering the talent already confirmed.

Hollywood royalty is set to join the feature as Kevin Bacon takes on the role of a private detective. Giancarlo Esposito has also joined the cast as an agent for Z-listers in the adult film industry, and Elizabeth Debicki will be playing a director — meanwhile, Michelle Monaghan and Bobby Cannavale play two detectives. Moses Sumney, Lily Collins, and Halsey are also confirmed to be making appearances in the film.

The plot of the sequel will follow on from the events of X after Maxine narrowly escapes death at the hands of an elderly Pearl and her husband. It will likely finish the story started at the beginning of the first film as we’ll see Maxine on her journey to fame in 1980s Los Angeles.

For a cheap slasher series, the X films have done surprisingly well, and it’s safe to say that audiences will be looking forward to seeing its bloody conclusion. Hopefully, the expanded cast and, presumably, larger budget means that Ti West will be able to go all-out and make MaXXXine a truly gory experience.
