Ja Rule clears up if he’ll be involved in Fyre Festival II

Okay the first Fyre Festival was a giant disaster but maybe second time's the charm?

Fyre Festival was one of the most entertaining disasters of the 2010s. Organizer Billy McFarland made big promises about luxury accommodations, tropical scenery, and a great line-up, with Ja Rule promising the weekend of a lifetime. The reality famously failed to live up to the dream, with those attending finding themselves plunged into chaos as they found a half-assembled festival with no bands, no infrastructure, food consisting of a poorly-constructed cheese sandwich and worryingly low supplies of drinking water.

This nightmare was chronicled in the excellent documentary Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened, which followed the increasingly frazzled McFarland as he wrote an endless series of cheques his ass couldn’t cash. That story ended with him behind bars. Now he’s out and… can anyone say sequel time?

This time Ja Rule is adamant he’s not involved in any capacity, and who can blame him after the last debacle? People Magazine quizzed him about whether he was involved and the answer was a flat no:

“I don’t know nothing about it. I ain’t in it!”

We have a morbid curiosity about how this whole thing will pan out this time. Surely nobody in their right mind would sign up for another Fyre Festival, an event that’s waving more giant red flags than a CCP rally. Then again, we’re hoping that yet more optimistic, tanned, and wealthy partygoers descend on the latest filthy construction yard trying its best to host a music festival.

Pass the popcorn, because however this plays out it’s going to be very dumb and very fun to watch.
