Latest Fantasy News: Potterheads realize Daniel Radcliffe foretold ‘Harry Potter’s downfall a few years ago as Elijah Wood expresses surprise over the new ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies

The unwanted revival of the fantasy kings.

At the moment, Warner Bros. is presiding over two of the most beloved franchises in fantasy, and making every last effort to ruin them both. One is J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, which is soon getting another batch of movie adaptations, and the other is J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter, set to be remade into a television show.

As we try to wrap our heads around the possibility of both franchises making an ill-fated rendezvous in live-action, Elijah Wood has broken his silence over the news of more Lord of the Rings films, while others have dug out an old Daniel Radcliffe interview that now comes off as eerily prophetic.

In just four weeks, gamers all around the world will be treated to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which is the long-anticipated sequel to one of the greatest games in history. Going by the launch trailer alone, it seems that we’re in for the adventure of a lifetime, once again taking control of Link and saving the fictional world of Hyrule by grinding our way through a vast open-world experience.

2023 is shaping up to be a pretty great year for gamers all around, but it seems that Tears of the Kingdom is already destined to take that GOTY award home.

Daniel Radcliffe knew that Harry Potter remakes were inevitable, and he tried to warn the rest of the world as early as 2019

Daniel Radcliffe knew that Harry Potter wasn’t a story to be left alone, so he predicted the emergence of remakes in an old interview. Speaking with IGN a few months after Fantastic Beasts‘ premiere, the star said: “I’m sure there will be some other version of it; I know I’m not the last Harry Potter I’m gonna see in my lifetime – we’ve already got a few more.”

Lo and behold, Warner Bros. is actually trying to turn that seven-book series into a television show with an all-new cast. As far as we’re concerned, though, Daniel Radcliffe is and will always be The Boy Who Lived.

Elijah Wood utterly overestimates Hollywood by hoping the new Lord of the Rings aren’t just a cash-grab

In a recent profile run by GQ (per IGN), Elijah Wood admits to his surprise over the announcement of new Lord of the Rings movies. And while he acknowledges that the main goal is to earn money, he hopes the studios manage to retain that sense of reverence for Tolkien’s creation, just like Peter Jackson did.

“It came out of a passion for these books and wanting to see them realized,” He said of Jackson’s trilogy, where he played Frodo Baggins. “And I hope that that is ultimately what will drive everything forward with whatever these subsequent movies are. I just hope that it’s the same motivating factor at its core.”

Something tells us it won’t be.
