The actor’s upcoming memoir, Making It So, is now available for pre-order on Amazon and other online bookstores. The title was inspired by Picard’s catchphrase on Star Trek: The Next Generations, “Make it so,” which is his way of executing orders to his crew. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Stewart shared his enjoyment working on the memoir, claiming it was a “brand new experience” for him to do and that he was “lost in the moment” when he started writing his first sentence.

“Every moment of working on it has been thrilling for me because it was a brand-new experience.

“From the moment that I was sitting right where I am now and raised my hands to start typing the first sentence I was lost, and I didn’t expect to be. It took me a while to realize how immersed I was. This will sound rather pretentious, but it would take some time for me to shift my head from my childhood, my teenage years, my first experiences as an actor, back to today and now and, what did I really want for supper?”

According to the book’s official description, Making It So is about Stewart’s “astonishing” life story from his humble beginnings in England to his time in Star Trek and X-Men franchises. The actor told Entertainment Weekly that he was offered ghost-writers to tell his story, but he turned them all down, claiming that only he can tell his own life story.

“That never interested me because I would tell myself, ‘If I’m going to tell my story, I will tell it. I don’t need somebody else to tell it with me,'”

Stewart is known for his roles as Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek franchise and Charles Xavier in X-Men. The actor reprised his sci-fi role in the 2020 series, Star Trek: Picard, which only lasted for three seasons, its final episode aired on April 20, 2023. The actor also reprised his iconic X-Men role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and it’s currently unknown if he will return in later titles.

If you’re keen to read more about Stewart’s life, Making It So will be released on October 4, 2023.
