Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn has revealed that he owns a piece of the film in his home. Gunn took to Twitter to post an image of the film set memorabilia, which was none other than the pug painting that adorned the walls of the movie’s bat family. “It’s on the wall of my home,” Gunn captioned the image, in response to a viewer asking for the painting’s whereabouts.
The director went on to reveal that he had also taken more props from the same set, including “all of the statues from the Bat Family home.” Gunn isn’t the only Guardians crew member to score a few mementos from the set, with Chris Pratt — who portrays Star-Lord — revealing that he “backed up the U-Haul truck” and “took it all” from the set of Vol. 3.
He continued: “I got past the point where it probably would’ve been more expensive for them to fire me than to let me take everything.” For their part, fellow Marvel actors have likewise admitted to taking home various set pieces in the past, with Chris Evans confessing to bagging Captain America’s shield, and Tom Hiddleston revealing that he owns the scarf Loki wore in the trailer scene for Thor.
Answering additional fan questions on Twitter, Gunn also revealed that Vol. 3 was unable to acquire the rights to use the 1982 song Russian Roulette by Lords of the New Church, since “it was tied up in legal battles.” The director also named the whereabouts of Peter Quill’s absent helmet in Vol. 3, saying it’s in “desk drawer in Knowhere.”
In other Guardians news, it was recently revealed that Pete Davidson appeared in Vol. 3 in the cameo role of a Phlektik, a guard for the villain of High Evolutionary. “You have to look closely to find him,” Gunn wrote of Davidson’s cameo appearance. Elsewhere, Donald Trump involuntarily joined the Guardians fray after being name-checked by a fan as a potential inspiration for High Evolutionary.
