When is ‘Good Omens 2’ coming out? Neil Gaiman offers a very Neil Gaiman-y answer

Gaiman gives a definitive update on 'Good Omens 2,' but in his own words.

The very existence of a Good Omens 2 is a blessing for a community that has long yearned to see the continuation of this story, but vent their frustrations as they may, the fans are no closer to learning the exact premiere date than they were a year ago — and that was a time when Neil Gaiman wasn’t feeling as smug as he does these days.

All we know about Good Omens 2 is that it’s going to come out this summer. Even plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, and if it weren’t for the absolute certainty that David Tennant and Michael Sheen would be reprising their respective roles as Crowley and Aziraphale, we wouldn’t know about their involvement, either.

Good Omens is a story written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, in an era where Hollywood sequels weren’t what popularity necessitated, but what the authors deemed necessary for their fictional worlds. Now that Terry Pratchett is no longer with us, Gaiman is taking it upon himself to resurrect this story in live-action, but as far as indulging the fans goes, he’s playing his cards pretty close to the chest.

When a fan recently asked Gaiman if there was a reason for the lack of release date announcements, the novelist finally gave us a definitive answer. In a manner of speaking.

“Yes. There is a reason,” He writes. “It hasn’t been announced because we haven’t announced it yet. That is the reason it hasn’t been announced. Not only have we not told you the exact date it’s coming out, we haven’t even told you the month. All we’ve told you is Summer. So, you will have to do some waiting until you find out more.”

And believe it or not, Gaiman also reveals why there hasn’t been a trailer yet. In his own words: “The trailer hasn’t been released because we haven’t released it yet.” Unbelievable, right?
