Donald Trump not knowing who E. Jean Carroll is makes me wonder whether he should really be running for president again

It's the pot forgetting what to call the kettle.

It’s a common refrain from the Republican side of things that President Joe Biden is too old, senile and can’t even climb stairs (that one’s kinda true). What they seem to conveniently forget is that their hero Donald Trump is no spring chicken, and is turning 77 this year. More troubling? He can’t seem to remember who journalist and advice columnist E. Jean Carroll is, despite having to pay her $5 million.

Trump took to (where else) Truth Social to comment on the verdict that he was liable for sexual abuse and defamation of Carroll, who claimed Trump had sexually abused her in a dressing room of luxury store Bergdorf Goodman in the mid- ’90s.

The jury had the option of finding that Trump either raped, sexually abused, or forcibly touched Carroll. They found the latter two charges were credible, but not the rape. Regardless, given that this was a civil suit and not a criminal trial, Trump owes Carroll some money. He was not happy about this.

“I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHO THIS WOMAN IS. THIS VERDICT IS A DISGRACE – A CONTINUATION OF THE GREATEST WITCH HUNT OF ALL TIME!”

The all-caps approach makes it feel even more deranged. If he doesn’t know “this woman,” a high-profile journalist and celebrity in media circles since the 1980s, in addition to being in the news constantly for the past several years, should he really be running for the highest office in the land?

And if he does remember E. Jean Carroll, then he’s blatantly lying — which, to be honest, he does all the time, but that should also alarm people, given that he wants to be president again. You know who else he can’t recognize? His ex-wife Marla Maples, who he mistook for Carroll. Doesn’t that sound like dementia?

Dementia is only a topic of discussion because it’s something Trump has repeatedly accused Biden of having, even claiming that his rival is moving to a nursing home in Wisconsin. Regardless, DJT is also old and not great at remembering things. That can’t be good for the country at all.
