Elon Musk says that Twitter has not signed Tucker Carlson

This comes moments after Tucker Carlson shared that he was bringing his show to Twitter.

Tucker Carlson recently generated some buzz after announcing his next big move following his departure from Fox News. As previously reported, last month Fox News released a statement revealing that Carlson was no longer employed by the company and that his former show Tucker Carlson Tonight was being replaced with Fox News Tonight with rotating co-anchors until a new host was unveiled.

When the statement was released to the general public, Fox News failed to mention what caused Carlson’s exit and if he was fired. Although the firing allegations and why it happened are still being determined, Carlson disclosed on May 9 that he is returning with a new show on Twitter.

Despite the recent revelation, details regarding the 53-year-old’s new project are limited. Still, Carlson provided a reason why he decided to bring a revamped version of his show to the social media platform. It stems from the fact that everyone can post and discuss topics freely without facing any ramifications.

Immediately following Carlson’s announcement, Twitter CEO Elon Musk took to the platform he owns to clear up some things. In the post, Musk raved about how the platform gives people the opportunity to discuss any topic, and if there is “any misleading” information, it will receive a community note. He said,

On this platform, unlike the one-way street of broadcast, people are able to interact, critique and refute whatever is said. And, of course, anything misleading will get @CommunityNotes.

Further in the post, the 51-year-old also shared that even though Carlson announced that he was bringing his show to Twitter, the men have not “signed a deal of any kind whatsoever” and that the former television host will receive the same treatment as other content creators. Musk added while encouraging other people, mainly those from the left, to join Twitter,

“I also want to be clear that we have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever. Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators. Rewards means subscriptions and advertising revenue share (coming soon), which is a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising views associated with the content. I hope that many others, particularly from the left, also choose to be content creators on this platform.”

At this time, Carlson has yet to respond to Musk’s remarks.
