During their run in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Guardians team has gotten audiences used to high amounts of action scenes expertly mixed with comedic moments. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, however, is no walk in the park for animal lovers (i.e. any decent human being), portraying the cruelty Rocket has been put through in life right from its very start. Luckily, fans have an idea that might counteract at least some of the emotional damage inflicted by the film.

In the Guardians threequel, we are introduced to Rocket’s old friends, Teefs, Lylla, and Floor, before the animals are mercilessly ripped away from us again. Tough as that may have been to watch, it opens up the possibility of an alternate universe in which the three survive the High Evolutionary’s cruelty. And what other Marvel installment explores the multiverse? That’s right, What If…? — currently fans’ best bet of seeing these three characters again.

The second season of What If…? is yet to hit streaming platforms, and given how much the audience was affected by Guardians 3‘s tragic conclusion for Rocket’s friends, this would be the perfect chance to bring viewers some joy. Of course, in order to truly entertain viewers, an episode featuring Floor, Lylla, and Teefs’ alternative fates would have to be more than simple fan service, but if Marvel is smart about this, everybody can win.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now playing in theaters.
