‘No matter which direction it goes, it’s gonna be incredible’: Lainey Wilson opens up about ‘Yellowstone’ coming to an end

Lainey Wilson thinks 'Yellowstone' will end in a way that satisfies all of us.

Lainey Wilson is Yellowstone‘s country music sweetheart, Abby, and she is opening up about everyone’s favorite cowboy drama and the future of the series we’ve not yet prepared to say goodbye to yet. When news broke earlier this week, Dutton family fans everywhere started experiencing a range of emotions, but Wilson is steering us in a promising direction.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Wilson said that she has faith that the final chapter of Yellowstone will be a good one.

“No matter which direction it goes, it’s gonna be incredible because [Yellowstone creator] Taylor Sheridan, I mean, he can do no wrong, in my opinion, but yeah. I’m waiting for that call. I’m like, ‘Y’all let me know when to be there and I’ll be there.'”

When asked about Costner riding off into the sunset, Wilson didn’t even have words to sum up what she felt about the icon hanging up his hat as John Dutton. He’s a legend, an actor for decades, and someone you immediately think of when you think of the word cowboy; it just doesn’t feel right knowing he’ll soon hop up on a horse for the last time on a slow ranch morning.

“Oh my gosh. Well, first of all, it’s Kevin Costner. Don’t even get me started, but I think he’s just incredible himself, too.”

Costner is incredible, and with Wilson’s quick rise to fan favorite Yellowstone status, we were holding out hope that her character, Abby, would have scenes with John Dutton in the future. There’s still hope, as she doesn’t feel like she’s written her last song in the Yellowstone realm.

Speaking to Extra, Wilson continued by saying that she’s as in the dark as the rest of us about the future of our favorite cowboy drama, but she’s sitting near the phone.

“I don’t even know what’s happening. I’m waiting for Taylor to holler at me. If they give me the call, you bet your bottom dollar I’ll be there.”

Abby’s character arc was something fans couldn’t get enough of in season five, and we hope we’ve not yet seen the last of her yet. We’ll likely be waiting a while to find out where the final journey with the Yellowstone cast will lead us, but we’re ready to jump on a horse and follow it anywhere — and we’re not the only ones.
