The Dark Knight Rises Shows Its Humour In Latest TV Spot, Plus New Trailer

With all the brooding, ominous marketing material that has been unveiled over the past few months for The Dark Knight Rises, it’s easy to forget all of the genuinely humorous highlights sprinkled throughout Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. With the latest television spot though, it’s pretty clear this sequel isn’t altering that trend.

There are certainly detractors out there who find Christopher Nolan’s Batman films to be too self-serious and that would certainly be the case even more if not for the witty screenwriting trio of Nolan, his brother Jonathan and David S. Goyer. This is certainly the most light-hearted promo we’ve seen yet and had me cracking up as much as I shivered with even more heightened anticipation.

With this TV spot, it’s pretty clear that Bruce Wayne’s years as the caped crusader have taken their toll on his body as evidenced by a rather poor medical assessment from his doctor. But I’ll digress from spoiling everything and recommend you just watch it yourself.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20.
