This moment comes at the height of Strong’s career as he closes the final chapter of his hit HBO Max series Succession. In the show, the 44-year-old portrays Kendall Roy. One of four children, Roy is described as a troubled individual within the family media empire as he seeks his father’s approval.

On May 14, Strong revealed during an interview with CBS Sunday Mornings that, unlike the relationship dynamic between the two characters in the show, he and his real-life father, David Strong, have a very close bond, so much so that David didn’t think twice about stepping in when the Serenity star’s life was in danger.

In the discussion, Strong disclosed that one day when he was 8 years old, the pair visited the Arnold Arboretum park. An unidentified person almost ran him over, but David, who reportedly saw the car headed in their direction, pushed his son out of harm’s way. Strong would add that his father’s gesture saved his life even though David sustained leg injuries. He stated,

“There was a car coming nearly like 40 miles an hour. They wasn’t slowing down from the traffic light and so he picked me up and threw me out of the way. He got hit by a car, broke all the bones in both of his legs, saved my life.”

Further in the interview, Strong went to visit his childhood home. In the clip, the actor was taken aback by emotions as he recalled many memories in the residence. Strong said,

“That’s my house… It just feels big feelings coming back here I don’t want to monumentalize it but in the way these are like the waters of childhood.”

Despite his hit show Succession coming to an end, Strong has his sights on Broadway as media outlets report that he is set to make his return to the stage with the play Enemy of the People. It is reportedly scheduled to debut next year.

The fourth and final season of Succession is now streaming on HBO Max.
