James Gunn open to determining the future of the DCU on what it takes for his haters to eat a shoe

When there's a shoe, there's a way.

Biting back at trolls and haters has already become one of James Gunn‘s most time-consuming avenues as the co-CEO of DC Studios, and things have gotten so heated already that he’s contemplating bending the franchise’s future to the will of those desperate to eat their own shoes.

It sounds insane on the surface, but given that the filmmaker has been open in admitting he expends so much effort debunking rumors because he enjoys it, maybe it shouldn’t be ruled out that a certain scene, dialogue exchange, or Easter Egg could be parachuted into the incoming film and television slate for the sole purpose of turning those loafers into lunch.

As tends to be the case, the Guardians of the Galaxy figurehead was making his daily rounds on Twitter when he stumbled upon a promise from one user to emulate Werner Herzog and chow down on a delicious leathery boot, and it immediately piqued his interest.

Taking things one step further, Gunn then ignored any intimations of a permanent tattoo in favor of doubling down on the shoe-eating, leading us to suspect he may have bookmarked these tweets for future use a few years down the line when Superman: Legacy‘s Man of Steel and The Brave and the Bold‘s Dark Knight inevitably cross paths.

Remember this day, then, because it’s beginning to feel as though we’re edging closer to receipts being pulled out a long way down the line when the time finally comes for the over-confident igniter of the discourse being forced to put their money (or shoe, in this case) where their mouth is.
