This all began on May 18, when Bolton uploaded a video on his official TikTok account. In the clip, the 70-year-old is seen in what appears to be his kitchen, rinsing off a pan before putting it upside right on the top rack of the dishwasher. In addition to doing his household chores, Bolton sang along to his 1997 hit, “Go the Distance.” The song was featured as the lead single to Disney’s Hercules soundtrack.

Also, in the video, the “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You” singer shared the reason why he uploaded the post; he wanted to give those who often find an excuse to leave a dish in the sink “extra inspiration” in hopes that they would go the distance. He wrote in the caption,”A song for those who need extra inspiration to not leave the dish in the sink.”

Since Bolton has shared the video it has generated over 296,000 views and received over 26,000 likes. When the upload began circulated online, many of Bolton’s fans voiced their opinion regarding the video. Some raved over the singer’s attempt and hit song, while others pointed out that Bolton incorrectly placed the pan in the dishwasher.

One individual claimed that because Bolton placed the pan incorrectly showcases that he “has never gone the distance.”

“Um, except the way he put it into the dishwasher shows he has never actually ‘gone the distance’.”

At the same time, another TikTok user claimed they were inspired to do their dishes until they saw Bolton’s mistake.

“I was so inspired until I saw how the pan went in bowl side up and screamed ‘NOOOO YOU WERE SO CLOSE!!!'”

A third individual stated even though they enjoyed the video, Bolton “triggered” them with the pan.

“I love it! But I’m so triggered by how he put that in the dishwasher.”

Another social media user would go as far as to politely asked Bolton to flip the pan over.

“Now Mr. Bolton sir, can you take it a step further and flip that pan over? The clean freak in me is cringing!”

At this time, it is unclear whether Bolton has flipped the pan over, per fans’ requests, and he has yet to comment on the remarks.
