‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ Blu-Ray and DVD release guide

Anyone itching to re-enter the Mushroom Kingdom won't have to wait too long.

Can you believe it’s been over two months since The Super Mario Bros. Movie hit theaters worldwide? In fact, if you still haven’t had your fill of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad and Bowser, the Illumination and Nintendo collaboration is still showing at select theaters, so be sure to snag tickets if you haven’t already. As we’re nearing the eventual end of the movie’s insane theatrical run, which has grossed just under $1.23 billion worldwide (at the time of writing), many Super Mario super-fans are likely wondering when Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic’s computer-animated adventure will arrive on DVD and Blu-Ray.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has already become the biggest launch of 2023, overtaking the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and Avatar: The Way of Water. After smashing several box office records, it’s safe to say that The Super Mario Bros. Movie is one of the highest-grossing movies ever made — not just in the animated flick field. We should have assumed there’d be a huge turnout for such a beloved franchise, especially with an ensemble cast led by Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and Keegan-Michael Key at the helm.

Right now, The Super Mario Bros Movie is available to rent or buy digitally via on-demand services including Apple iTunes, Vudu, and Amazon. However, it’ll run you a hefty sum of $24.99 to rent and $29.99 to buy. Since Universal Pictures were in charge of distributing, we’ll be expecting to see The Super Mario Bros Movie on Peacock sometime soon, though we’re not certain of a release date just yet.

If you’d prefer to own a copy of The Super Mario Bros Movie for yourself, it can be pre-ordered on DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD on Amazon Prime, with prices ranging between $19.99 and $29.99 depending on quality. While it was announced that the movie would be releasing on DVD and Blu-Ray on June 6, that date has been delayed and sources are reporting July 1 as the supposed alternative. As of right now, this is subject to change with further confirmation.

As for right now, The Super Mario Bros Movie is still showing in theaters.
