‘The Flash’ director detonates a nuclear device on the rumor mill with comments on ‘The Brave and the Bold’

Things have just been heated up by several degrees.

All we know with any great degree of certainty about The Brave and the Bold is that it’s happening, with everything else being left entirely open for interpretation. Or more accurately, intense rumor-mongering.

James Gunn is plenty busy both as the co-CEO of DC Studios and the writer and director of Superman: Legacy, but it surely won’t be too long before the next Batman reboot begins gathering some serious momentum. Recent scuttlebutt has claimed that a director is locked in for the project, but could it be The Flash‘s Andy Muschietti?

If the rave reactions are to be believed, then the filmmaker has delivered one of the best comic book adaptations of the modern age, and we’ve seen in the past with both Marvel and DC that the companies love to have talented people stick around and direct multiple features.

When asked by Josh K. Elliot about his potential interest in stepping behind the camera and wielding the megaphone on The Brave and the Bold, Muschietti’s answer was as cryptic as they come when he replied by saying, “I don’t think I can talk to that… yet.” Of course, those paying attention to the speculation will be fully aware he’s been linked with the job more than once, so would it really be a surprise at this stage?

If The Flash lived up to the potential we’ve been repeatedly told it possesses, then he’ll instantly become a fan favorite candidate, but the ball lies just as much in Gunn and Peter Safran’s court as it does his, although if the Scarlet Speedster is cast out of canon, the Dark Knight is an acceptable substitute.
