‘Extraction 2’ director fantasizes over the showdown of the century between Tyler Rake and John Wick

Having recently become anointed as Hollywood’s latest billion-dollar franchise, with an expansion into full-blown cinematic universe well underway as prequel series The Continental and feature-length spin-off Ballerina gear up for their respective releases, are crossovers next in line for John Wick?

Charlize Theron revealed a long time ago that she’d love to see Atomic Blonde‘s Lorraine Broughton go toe-to-toe with Keanu Reeves’ iconic assassin, which did kind of make sense given that David Leitch was heavily involved in both. However, that particular action saga now belongs to Netflix, so we can take it off the table for now.

Speaking of bone-crunching Netflix shoot ’em ups, Extraction 2 is mere weeks away from release, with audiences champing at the bit to get reacquainted with Chris Hemsworth’s nigh-on indestructible Tyler Rake. It would be a mouthwatering showdown for the ages to see the big Aussie butt heads with Mr. Wick, but who would come out on top?

Director Sam Hargrave was asked that very question in an interview with Collider, and you may not be surprised by his answer.

“That’s like the greatest question of all time. I mean, that’s tough because, you know, I’m partial to the character of Tyler Rake. I’m gonna take away John Wick’s bulletproof suit and I’m gonna give it to Tyler Rake. The dude’s a badass, so there’s no debate.”

While the winner is hard to determine, the loser would undoubtedly be anyone and anything within a 10-mile radius, given that both Rake and Wick are prone to leaving behind catastrophic collateral damage. We can only dream, but it would be a hell of a sight to see unfold onscreen.
