This announcement comes one day after it was announced David Slade would not be able to direct the Daredevil reboot, due to his commitment to direct the pilot of the NBC series.

The exact role Mikkelsen would have been stepping into is still unknown, but he has certainly shown he can be as sinister a villain as anyone. As excited as I am to see him play Dr. Hannibal Lecter, it’s a shame that the schedule for the two projects conflict as he surely would have been sensational in Thor 2.

Tom Hiddleston will be back as Loki, but now Marvel has the task of finding another actor to serve as lead villain for the highly anticipated sequel. There is no word yet on who they are looking at as a replacement for Mikkelsen.

Now that the role is open, who do you think would be good for the part? Let us know in the comments section below.
