Anyone who wants to hate on Brie Larson before ‘The Marvels’ now has a date to mark in the calendar

Time to practice those barbs before 'The Marvels' arrives.

You don’t have to spend very long on the internet to find out that Brie Larson is one of the most polarizing figures in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, with trolls having been sharpening their knives ever since her casting was first announced half a decade ago.

As expected, then, the first full-length trailer for The Marvels was bombarded with dislikes to end up 3000 percent ahead of Morbius in terms of online unpopularity, which just goes to show how bad things have gotten. The downside for the unsavory subset is that they have to wait until November 10 to review-bomb the superhero sequel into oblivion, but at least they’ve been given a new date to mark on their calendar.

Apple TV has announced that Larson-fronted drama series Lessons in Chemistry will drop its first two episodes on October 13, giving everyone almost an entire month to let the hate flow through them before Carol Danvers soars back onto the big screen. Then again, maybe those with a burning disdain for the Academy Award-winning actress won’t take much notice of a TV show set in the 1960s, but it’s getting harder and harder to figure out how these people operate.

Either way, those who hold Larson in a genuinely high regard will be excited to see her return to long-form episodic storytelling, and it would be seriously foolish to bet against potential awards season consideration. After all, despite what the haters keep reiterating, she happens to be very good at her day job whether she’s wearing a costume and battling aliens, or in this case hosting a cooking program designed to surreptitiously teach science to housewives.
