‘The Flash’ star clarifies the seal of approval given by Henry Cavill after the rumor mill explodes

A grain of truth became all-out speculation and rampant rumor-mongering.

Risking the wrath of SnyderVerse supporters is a game that Warner Bros. is always willing to play, with the most recent round in the ongoing battle going in the studio’s favor when it was decided that Henry Cavill’s cameo was unworthy of being included in the theatrical cut of The Flash.

While the actor did at least pocket $250.000 for this troubles, it marked an ignominious end to his decade-long tenure as the Man of Steel when his final pair of appearances came in the post-credits scene of a movie that ended up going nowhere, and a guest spot left on the cutting room floor ahead of what’s shaping up to be one of the best superhero blockbusters of the modern era.

Sasha Calle’s Supergirl may have a future beyond The Flash – which is entirely dependent on co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran – but she set the rumor mill ablaze earlier this week when she revealed she’d gotten the seal of approval directly from Cavill himself, which led many to believe his excised scene featured the two Kryptonians coming face-to-face.

However in an interview with Fandango’s Erik Davis, Calle clarified the situation by confirming that she didn’t speak to the deposed Kal-El until after principal photography had wrapped, but that didn’t make her any less thrilled to get the thumbs up.

For all we know, Calle could end up crossing paths with the Clark Kent of Superman: Legacy should The Flash prove enough of an audition to secure her the gig for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but we’re never going to see Cavill done the cape and tights again no matter what happens.
