Well, I never thought I’d be writing about this rather strange combination, but here we are. You see, the creative minds from Gearbox Software have done something different with their most recent trailer for Borderlands 2, opting to make it a musical masterpiece. Yes, you read that correctly – it’s a musical take on first-person shooting and the caricatured characters found inside of the much-anticipated fall title. Not to mention one that uses The Lion Sleeps Tonight from Disney‘s The Lion King in order to add an extra level of whimsy to the visceral experience.

Who knew that the characters from Borderlands 2 were so musical? I certainly didn’t, but I’m thoroughly amazed. Having Claptrap dance and sing along at the end was a great final touch to one of the best video game trailers of all-time.

Borderlands 2 will shoot up the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC on September 18.
