‘Given the opportunity, I would jump at it’: Tom Holland calls dibs on welcoming Miles Morales into the MCU

The worst thing that could have happened to the chances of Miles Morales being welcomed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with open arms are Into the Spider-Verse and sequel Across the Spider-Verse proving to be instant classics.

Even though Miles is very much canon in Kevin Feige’s universe after Donald Glover’s Aaron Davis name-dropped his nephew in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony might be emboldened to throw him into the studio’s own Marvel franchise instead after his two animated outings proved to be critical and commercial darlings.

We can still hold out hope that common sense will prevail in the end, though, and there’s no better candidate than Tom Holland to welcome his erstwhile successor into the MCU with open arms. In fact, that’s exactly what he’s hoping to do, as he revealed in an interview with Inverse.

“I would be honored to bring Miles Morales into the live action world. How we do that, I don’t know, but given the opportunity, I would jump at it.”

Producer Amy Pascal came right out and confirmed Miles was on his way to live-action sooner rather than later, although it wasn’t specified whether it would be in the MCU or Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Anyone with any common sense would cross their fingers for the former, and the prospect of having him step in as Holland’s full-time replacement makes far too much sense to pass up.

Will it happen? That probably depends on some negotiating between the two parties, but there’s no harm in remaining optimistic.
