Who is Anthony Mackie’s ex-wife?

Although it didn't work out, the couple called things off amicably.

What with all the buzz surrounding Captain America 4, recently renamed Captain America: Brave New World after some controversy surrounding the old title, New World Order, it’s only natural that Anthony Mackie‘s name is all over the internet concurrently. His personal life hasn’t been as prominent in the public eye as other celebrities, especially Marvel actors, but there’s some questions being raised concerning his ex-wife, Sheletta Chapital.

For those of you who watched Avengers: Endgame (which seems to be almost everyone on the planet), you’ll remember that Chris Evans’ Captain America chose to time-travel back to be with his true love, Peggy Carter, and eventually die of old age. When he returned to the present day as an old man, he bestowed upon Sam Wilson — his long-time best friend — the shield of Captain America, thereby passing the mantle on to him. Form that point on, Mackie has been busy embodying one of Marvel’s greatest heroes.

But what about his more private affairs? Well, Anthony Mackie had been dating his long-time girlfriend and childhood sweetheart for quite some time before marrying her in 2014. However, it didn’t take long before Mackie had quietly filed for divorce in 2017, then finalized the split in 2018. According to E! News, the split was amicable and Mackie and Chapital arranged to have joint custody of their four children.

On The Queen Latifah Show, Mackie told the hostess the story of how he met Chapital:

“I was coming from a very bad school and going to a very good. And when I walked into second grade, it was Dr. Seuss day. We had the little hot plate out, and the teacher was making green eggs and ham. So, you know, I walk in and I look and I see this girl with these little ratty pigtails and skinny legs and I was like, ‘Wow!'”

After starring in Falcon and the Winter Soldier and now taking the lead in Captain America: Brave New World, there’s no slowing down Mackie, who continues to make a name for himself even after his love life took an unexpected turn.
