In an interview with The Cut a month later, Monáe revealed that she heavily identified with the Steven Universe meme she shared that day, which read “Are you a boy or a girl? I’m an experience.” Of her identification with it, the actress said, “I feel my feminine energy, my masculine energy, and energy I can’t even explain.”
