Stephen King can’t even crack a dad joke without getting drawn into the gun control debate

The horror legend just can't help but make his opinions known, regardless of the context.

As a man of many talents, Stephen King has showcased that he’s capable of doing it all on Twitter.

Do you want random musings on the mundanity of everyday life? Sure, the iconic author has got you covered. What about film and television recommendations that come with the seal of approval right from the creator of some of the scariest tales ever told? Yep, he’s got your back. Political insights that more often than not devolve into an outright trashing of Donald Trump? Obviously, that’s one of his favorite things to do.

Dad jokes? You betcha, even though in this instance it ended up being shoehorned into another one of King’s favored topics; the ongoing debate around gun control. It all started innocuously enough, with the titan of terror sharing a gag that’s so cringeworthy and terrible that it’s almost endearing by default.

However, he ended up retweeting another response to the one-liner that ended up catching his eye and being retweeted, which was of course embedded in his staunch belief that regulations should be tightened nationwide in order to try and stem the tide of needless shootings.

Being able to have you cake and it eat too isn’t a luxury afforded to many in the wild, weird, and wonderful world of Twitter, but when you’re Stephen King, you invariably get plenty of chances to enjoy the benefits that come with being such a high-profile public figure.

He’s not going to be quietened, either, because there isn’t a subject in the world that he won’t tackle regardless of whether or not something as innocent as a dad joke served as the catalyst.
