Life after Harry Potter is turning into quite a scary ordeal for Daniel Radcliffe.

Fresh off a leading role in this year’s Victorian thriller The Woman In Black, The Film Stage is reporting that Radcliffe has been selected to replace Shia LaBeouf in Alexandre Aja‘s upcoming thriller Horns.

Based off Joe Hill‘s novel, Radcliffe will portray a man who wakes up one morning after a long night of alcohol abuse to find devilish horns, possessing magical powers, protruding from his head.  Causing people to “confess their sins and give in to their impulses,” Radcliffe’s character, Ignatius “Ig” Perrish, believes he can utilize his newfound powers to expose those responsible for his late wife Merrin’s rape and murder.

From High Tension to Piranha, Alexandre Aja has created some pretty gruesome horror films, so it’s hard not to get excited for what sounds like an intriguingly dark thriller with a sinister tone.

Radcliffe himself has flaunted fantastic acting abilities on both stage and screen, but the character of Ig gives our young star a chance to delve into a seriously seedy persona and bolster his resume.

As an avid horror fan, I’m extremely excited to see Horns getting ready to head into production. I’ve been waiting for the film to take off for quite a while and now that Radcliffe is signed and on board, you can expect more big name talent to flock to the project.

There’s no doubt Shia would have done a phenomenal job given the opportunity to stay with Horns, but are you excited to see Daniel Radcliffe return to horror?
