Indy’s triumphant return to theaters is now just weeks away, and the hype for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is reaching fever pitch. This will be the 80 year-old Harrison Ford’s final adventure as the iconic hero, with the story split neatly between a digitally de-aged younger version of himself during World War II, and an older iteration caught up in the 1960s space race.
An octogenarian leading an action movie has raised eyebrows, though all released footage indicates Ford can still deliver the goods, and now a performer who knows him as well as anyone has chimed in. Mark Hamill and Ford have been friends since the Star Wars original trilogy, with the former having a simple and straightforward appraisal of Dial of Destiny:
Marvel Studios clearly agrees with Hamill. Following the tragic death of William Hurt last year, General “Thunderbolt” Ross has been recast as Ford in Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts. Since we last met Ross, he’s somehow become President of the United States, giving him even more power and influence over the MCU.
So far, Ross has been a mover and shaker rather than getting involved in the action, but comic book readers are all too aware he ends up becoming the rampaging Red Hulk. Ford is refusing to confirm or deny any information about whether Ross will Hulk out in other of those movies, but eagle-eyed fans have spotted official images from the Brave New World set that appear to show him with tattered pants.
Either way, we’re here for Ford’s continuing blockbuster saga, whether it be in Indiana Jones, Star Wars or Marvel. He may be getting on in years, but he’s still got it where it counts.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny hits theaters on June 30.
