The Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme, explained

Leonardo DiCaprio is a meme legend, plain and simple, and his Tarantino pointing meme is one of the best.

Well folks, we’ve reached the part of the day where I stop covering entertainment news for a while and start covering memes — it’s been a long week, all right? Let me have a little fun. Everyone loves a good meme.

Is there anything better than a Leonardo DiCaprio spoof? Endlessly entertaining these days, Leo memes are some the most used on the internet. Especially the ones with a Tarantino twist. Heck, Django Unchained has a meme every five minutes. Which is why Leo’s performance as Rick Dalton in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood is as memeable as anything he’s ever done.

So while you’re here, let’s dig into a classic — the pointing meme. First, let’s take a look at the scene that birthed the iconic image to begin with, and find a few examples.

Forgot about The Great Gatsby, old sport, hearing Leo DiCaprio whistle and point at the television is so much better.

Essentially, this meme is all about recognition. It’s used to bring attention to an upcoming moment that others may be oblivious to, and hilariously draw attention to that thing when it finally appears. Now onto a few examples;

Starting to get the idea? You can use this meme for just about anything you’d like to, as long as you’re pointing something fun out. So go nuts. Use it for anything, even if it doesn’t make sense — after all, do any memes really make sense to begin with?

Few people have done as much for meme culture than Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s a frikken’ machine. With that in mind, here’s hoping that his latest Martin Scorsese joint Killers of the Flower Moon provides at least a few memes in the making.
