The wildest reactions to Colleen Ballinger’s apology video

Haters are definitely not backing off.

The internet has once again found its favorite punching bag, and this time, it’s none other than Colleen Ballinger. With over a decade of experience in the spotlight, one would think she had learned a thing or two about avoiding controversy. But alas, that seems to be wishful thinking.

Known by her online alter ego, Miranda Sings, from the early 2010s, Ballinger recently decided to address the mounting controversy in a so-called apology video. In this masterpiece of pseudo-remorse, the singer and influencer took to the screen to acknowledge all of the grooming allegations that have come her way. After all, we all eagerly awaited her profound words of contrition. However, instead of a heartfelt apology, Ballinger opted for a different approach — she picked up her trusty ukulele. Because apparently, when faced with allegations and criticism, strumming a few chords is the most effective way to redeem yourself.

For anyone that may have been out of the loop, Ballinger was accused of harassing, bullying, and grooming underaged fans. This tangled web of events, intertwined with past videos and live appearances, transformed the once-beloved online sensation into an overnight debacle of speculation and harassment. Consequently, numerous fans joined the chorus of criticism, lumping Ballinger together with other controversial YouTubers who unquestionably deserve to be called out.

Regardless of her method of apology (or lack thereof), the internet’s response has been a relentless wave of comedic brilliance. Memes flooded social media, mocking Colleen Ballinger’s actions. Whether it may be a video reference to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘s Frank (who eerily was also trying to avoid rumors about “diddling kids”), or even bringing up old videos of Millie Bobby Brown, the online reactions have showcased the internet’s uncanny ability to transform uncomfortable situations into comedic gold.

As time goes on, the likelihood of the memes ceasing is very slim, but to be absolutely honest, these reactions are absolutely making my day. However, it appears that Ballinger, alongside her team, will either have to do some damage control at some point, or simply ignore the situation altogether until this all dies down.
