In 1997, Good Burger came out to poor reviews, only to influence and find love with a generation of kids who are now adults. The sequel, dubbed Good Burger 2, is coming later this year and, while everyone knows Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are returning to it, many wondered about others popping back up, and today, there is an answer available for those hungry fans.
A report published in Variety reveals Carmen Electra, Lori Beth Denberg, and Josh Server are all returning alongside new cast members Lil Rel Howery and Jillian Bell. For those who do not remember the original piece spawned out of a sketch on the children’s variety show All That, Electra was in the original as an associate of the antagonist named Roxanne while Denberg and Server were customer Connie Muldoon and Good Burger employee Fizz, respectively. At the time, the pair were on All That alongside Thompson and Mitchell and, while the first dealt with industrial espionage, little is known about the second’s story. The logline on Wikipedia says Thompson’s Dexter will reunite with Mitchell’s Ed, and, when the project was announced, there was more to it revealed. In March, Variety said it would be similar to the earlier project where one person gives aid to the other one.
“Per the official logline of the film, ‘Dexter Reed (Thompson) is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed (Mitchell) welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.’”
As we will remind anyone, movies can change on a dime while shooting. So, for now, audiences will just have to wait and see what happens when the project which began shooting last month makes its debut in November on Paramount Plus. Thompson and Mitchell are producing the work and, online, fans are excited and feel like the entire endeavor is a huge victory of sorts for them.
The original Good Burger and the All That show with its sketches are available on Paramount Plus and Netflix, respectively.
